ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that impairs muscle function, and may result in spasticity, muscle cramps and joint dysfunctions. Many patients experience significant pain as a nonmotor symptom. Effective pain management, including corticosteroid injections, can enhance quality of life, though research on these interventions for ALS patients remains limited.
