Calcitonin gene–related peptide (CGRP) is a widely distributed neuropeptide best known for its role in migraine pathophysiology. Increasing evidence suggests that CGRP also contributes to pain beyond headache disorders by promoting neuroinflammation, sensitization, and neuroimmune signaling. However, findings are scattered across multiple pain models. This scoping review synthesizes preclinical and clinical research on CGRP in orofacial, postoperative, endometriosis-related, arthritic, and neuropathic pain to clarify mechanisms and inform future therapeutic strategies.
