Patients with lower back pain sometimes undergo lumbar medial branch blocks (LMBB) to predict response to lumbar medial branch radiofrequency neurotomy (LMBRN). Surprisingly, some patients with analgesia after LMBB don’t respond to LMBRN. This phenomenon may be caused by placebo responses linked to endogenous opioids (EOs).1 This study aims to use high-dose naloxone to detect and quantify the placebo effect when performing LMBB.2
