Brachial plexopathy is a neurological disorder affecting nerves from the cervical and thoracic spine, leading to arm pain, weakness, and sensory loss. Causes include trauma, compression, radiation, or tumors. In rare cases, phrenic nerve injury results in orthopnea due to diaphragmatic dysfunction. This co-occurrence presents a complex clinical challenge, as surgical treatments for the plexus may worsen breathing. Management requires careful assessment of both neurological and respiratory function to minimize risks and optimize outcomes.
