We describe a case of sickle cell disease (SCD) with acute crisis and multi-system trauma at our institution. The patient presented with multi-system trauma after a motor vehicle accident (MVA) en route to our institution for SCD crisis evaluation. Multi-system trauma injuries are common, and the physiologic milieu of sickle cell crisis usually occurs in the peri-trauma setting (hypovolemia, hypoxia, acidosis). However, there's limited literature on the management of acute crisis pain in such settings.
