Long-term outcomes of combined GMed and ITB percutaneous ultrasound tenotomy in recalcitrant GTPS

Introduction: Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (GTPS) is chronic enthesopathy involving gluteus medius (GMed) tendinopathy and iliotibial band (ITB) tension. Symptoms include lateral hip pain worsened by walking, side-lying, and stairs. Once labeled bursitis, GTPS is now recognized as tendon and fascial pathology (1). ITB tension and GMed degeneration contribute to its pathogenesis (2). When conservative care fails, options include surgery and regenerative therapies. This study evaluates 24-month outcomes of dual-site PUT, a minimally invasive treatment (3).
