Michael Fettiplace, MD PhD is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His work focuses on the safe use of local anesthetics, both identifying dosing strategies to reduce the risk of local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST) and implementing treatment strategies for LAST. He has contributed to society recommendations for ASRA and AHA on LAST and is the current Chair of the ASRA Pain Medicine workgroup on LAST. He maintains additional interests in anesthesia education and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in research and medicine.
